For 2009, we plan to hold the 4th Annual Tybee Island Fishing Tournament in the fall. We have had numerous requests to do so, and we hope to increase the activity by doing so at our customers request. Last year we had almost 200 participants sign up for this free event with great prizes, but holding it the day before Mother's Day help back many folks, so we have decided to pick a Saturday in October and run with it when no other tournaments are on the table at other locations (And, more importantly, when the 'Dawgs have a bye week!). We will announce the date by mid-summer. 

Last year's winners were Team Chasin' Tail!!! Two real nice fellows from Augusta, Georgia, came to Tybee Island Saturday and put a hurting on everybody! Jonathan Glover and DJ Sneed, both from Augusta, were crowned team champions of the 3rd Annual Tybee Island Fishing Tournament...their catch included 7 redfish, 2 speckled trout, and 2 flounder. They scored extra points for having the biggest speckled trout of the tournament (20 3/4 inches) and the biggest flounder (17 1/4 inches). Their point total was 146, beating the second place team by a mere 9 points!

The Best Individual Performace went to Bryan Stewart of Isle of Hope. Bryan turned in an impressive single catch of 2 redfish, 4 flounder, 1 speckled trout, and 2 whiting. He received extra points for having the biggest redfish of the day at 19 1/2 inches. He beat out the second place finisher by 5 points!

There were over $2,000 in give-a-ways and prizes, including cast nets, fishing poles, tackle storage units, boat consoles, fishing shirts, landing nets, minnow buckets, and tons of great tackle from our sponsors. Thanks to them this was a fun and fullfilling event!

Last year's event saw an impressive catch of flounder and nice speckled trout in the 18 to 20 inch range. We also had sheepshead, black sea bass, bluefish, both Spanish and king mackerel, and, of course, redfish...but the flounder and trout ruled the day.
